Editorial Review:

Product Description:
A visual odyssey that will change the way we see our planet, this remarkable book, companion to the acclaimed Discovery Channel/ BBC series, is an enduring and awe-inspiring record of one of the most ambitious natural history projects ever undertaken. Using the latest aerial surveillance, state-of-the-art cameras, and high definition technology, the creators of Planet Earth have assembled more than 400 stunning photographs of wondrous natural landscapes from around the globe, including incredible footage of the rarely spotted, almost mythical creatures that live in these habitats. Many of the images reveal inaccessible places that few have seen and record animal behavior that has never been filmed or photographed before. With the help of this highly advanced technology and the world's premier wildlife photographers, the book takes us on a spectacular journey from the world's greatest rivers and impressive gorges, to its mightiest mountains, hidden caves and caverns, and vast deserts. Planet Earth captures breathtaking sequences of predators and their prey, lush vistas of forests viewed from the tops of towering trees, the oceans and their mysterious creatures viewed from beneath the surface, and much more--in a magnificent adventure that brings unknown wonders of the natural world into our living rooms.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Pictures not as expected
I was disappointed in the pictures, what I had read made it sound like they would be better. I have not watched the TV version, so do not have an idea of whether it would be better in video format. I have not read the text yet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beautiful Images and vibrant colors!
This product came to my in less time than the expected amount. It was packaged perfectly, and the quality of the book is amazing. Its perfect! The book itself is even more vibrant and beautiful than the photos show. The pictures seem to come to life as you flip through a different world on each page! My husband loved this as a gift, and it is now added to our coffee table collection. A must buy for nature enthusiasts.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - planet earth as you have never seen it before
Having watched the entire planet earth series on the Discovery channel I decided to purchase this accompanying book and it was one of the best decisions i made. this book is atonishing in both its clarity of detailed images as well as in its detail of explaining the world in which we live. The information provided is somewhat basic in parts but is more than compensated by the terrific photography. There has not been another book published like this in recent years. All of the praise it receives is ... Read More

"The authors of [this] book (producers of the [Planet Earth TV] series) are extremely grateful to the [TV series'] production [the production team consisted of almost 25 people], post-production, and camera teams [the camera team consisted of more than 55 people] for their talent, dedication, and determination. The result of their hard work on this challenging series is not only obvious in the television programmes but in these pages. The stories they unearthed and the trips they ... Read More
