Editorial Review: Product Description: A domineering captain his pet palm tree & a devilish crew make life aboard a wwii cargo ship miserable for a cargo officer. Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 04/05/2005 Starring: Henry Fonda Jack Lemmon Run time: 122 minutes Rating: Nr Amazon.com essential video: Henry Fonda re-created his Broadway hit for this 1955 film that was mostly directed by Fonda's frequent collaborator, John Ford (Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine)--an ailing Ford was replaced at some point by Mervyn LeRoy--and the results are exceptionally fine. A perfect cast, including James Cagney's irascible captain, William Powell's thoughtful physician, and Jack Lemmon's Oscar-winning Ensign Pulver, give Fonda the right boost to portray his ennui-burdened officer with dignity, self-effacing humor, and not a trace of self-pity. A wonderful film. --Tom Keogh Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Mr. RobertsI really do not understand what a product link is, and this "share your opinion" is not user friendly. I suggest you have multiple choice questions instead of your present model. I was able to view the video/movie and did enjoy it, and I could not ask for more. Rating: - Mister Roberts is STILL the "Classic Film" I recall, from years ago, Mister Roberts is STILL the "Classic Film" I recall, from so many years ago, and worth the quite-reasonable cost to obtain it, for my Home Library. Rating: - Best movie ever...This movie is always on the top of my list. If you are a fan of the military classics, this is a must-have for your collection. Henry Fonda played this role in the play before the movie was made, so, his portrayal of Mr. Roberts is flawless. The story is both heart-wrenching & hilarious at the same time. I, personally, cannot get enough of the crew posted on "The Bucket". Rating: - One Of The GreatsWonderful showcase for all actors envolved. What a splendiferous way to say goodbye to Powell and hello to Lemon - Fonda and Cagney don't hurt either. Rating: - Mister RobertsESSENTIAL MOVIE!!! Henry Fonda finally returned to the silver screen after an eight year absence to star in Mister Roberts. The movie is an adaption of the Broadway play in which he portrayed the same role. Mister Roberts takes place in the closing months of WWII but it's as much a comedy as it is a drama. John Ford directed some of the film & was replaced by Mervyn LeRoy who finished it. Lt. Doug Roberts (Henry Fonda) is the chief cargo officer of the Reluctant, a supply ship in the ... Read More CnhotelShop
