Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
This two-CD, 25-song set, recorded in Louisville on two nights in the spring of 2002, finds bluegrass's most celebrated crossover band at the top of its game. Krauss's warm, feathery vocals, capable of conveying complex emotions in a single note, appear more full-bodied than in studio recordings, yet lose none of their sensual appeal or dramatic tension. She's perfect, for example, as the melancholy temptress on "Let Me Touch You for Awhile," coming across as both savior and seductress, while Jerry Douglas's Dobro echoes the searing strains of passion and pain. With banjoist-guitarist Ron Block, bassist Barry Bales, and guest drummer Larry Atamanuik anchoring the rhythm, the ensemble deftly blends bluegrass with jazz, rock, and folk, combining lightning speed (though rushing through "Forget About It") with sophisticated chops, tangible emotion, and thrilling vocal blends. The crowd, more spellbound with every note, doesn't even breathe on "Ghost in This House" and nearly tears the place down on Dan Tyminski's voice-of-George Clooney showcase, "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow." But who could blame them? It's only one highlight on an album of uncommon artistry, a moving testament to how good live music can be in the hands of world-class players. --Alanna Nash

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good-Great for real fans, I suppose.
I was disappointed in this album, but then (1) the only Alison Krauss music I had was the "Raising Sand" album she made with Robert Plant, and I know now that this isn't at all representative of her work; and (2) all I did was read a few of the most helpful reviews. Since good reviews are generally said to be "helpful" by fans who are likely to (or already know they do) like the music, this isn't too smart, I guess. If you aren't very familiar with the artist, you really want to know the possible ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live
This is a great CD with super pickin' and singing on all tracks. Alison Krause has the most beautiful, clear voice in the business. I can't believe that a year ago I never heard of her! Saw her on a tribute to James Taylor where she was singing "Carolina on my Mind." I was mesmerized by her singing and her beauty. She is a great artist. Too bad this genre of bluegrass isn't more popular right now, or she would be winning many more grammies.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Alison Krauss - a new fan
I had heard some of Alison's music on the radio but hadn't sought out her specifically. One night I watched her and the band perform on our local PBS station. The next day I ordered this CD and was delighted to find it was the same performance I had seen the night before. A new favorite.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Bluegrass out there...
I had no idea when I purchased Alison Krauss & Union Station in concert that I would have to fight to keep the CD. Everyone that has heard it loves it and wants to borrow it. I now have to keep it under lock & key. Can't wait to get more of this group. They are simply the best ever.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Incredible Recording Quality
This is one of the best, if not the best recorded concert out there. If you can find a SACD or LP copy if this, it is worth buying a record player or SACD player JUST FOR THIS. I'm not even kidding. However, the CD is still awesome. Just make sure if you upload it to your computer, do it lossless. This was recorded using the best mics out there with the audience recored also. Because of this, you hear some crowd noise with an absolutely "you are there" feeling. It's hard to explain, but there is a ... Read More
