The events of this real story happened at a late hour in the night at a convenience store in Brookhaven, New York. The clerk of this store was preparing to lock down the shop and call it a day when suddenly a hooded, masked man burst into the store. The dumb thief thought he has found an easy target in this convenience store but not when this clerk is on duty.

Without wasting a second, the thug immediately approached the front counter and pulled out a pistol. He cocked the gun and pointed it straight at the shocked clerk’s head and demanded all her money. But the four foot nine inch cashier does not flinch. At first, the clerk was taken by surprise and did not know what to do or how to behave. She quickly assessed the situation to plan what her next move will be and whether she was going to fight or surrender. She noticed that he was a sole criminal and had nobody to watch his back; she also sensed that he was a little bit hesitant and scared as if he was not even sure of himself.

Instead of giving him the money or even opening up the cash register the clerk immediately, quietly, and quickly pressed the silent alarm button located underneath the checkout counter. When he first pointed the gun at her she noticed that the gun was too small to the extent that she strongly felt that it was not real. In fact it looked a lot like one of the toy guns that she sells at the store. She was convinced that the guy was only bluffing.

The crook was very panicked out. He kept running back and forth from the checkout counter to the outside door to keep an eye for the police or any customers who may enter the store at any moment. He went back and forth several times which gave the clerk a chance to think through the situation and decide what her next move will be. For a short while, the clerk appeared to stall for time. She pretended to struggle with the register in an attempt to try and get it to open, while in reality she was only waiting for her moment to strike.

When the goon turned his back one last time to check for the police outside the shop, the clerk pulls out her weapon of choice from under the checkout counter. This was a three foot battle ax. When the clerk comes again to check on the clerk and see if she had the money ready for him or not he gets the surprise of his life. The annoyed clerk immediately started hacking away at the intruder with a weapon over half her size. The baffled hoodlum is stunned by her determined resistance. He pointed the gun at her in an attempt to scare her away and stop the resistance however; the clerk was too busy with trying to get a good whack at him. The crook realized that his gun was not scaring the clerk any more and so he decides to flee the store. The clerk still went after him to see where he went to make sure that he does not come back again inside the store. In the face of sudden terror this shop keeper stood tall and sent a crook running for his safety. Even though the thief succeeded in escaping from the scene, the recorded video footage of the incident will serve as evidence to the occurrence of the crime and will enable the clerk to see the many holes in her security plan.
